GUESTHOUSE ON THE BEACH

On a beachfront family property in northwest Koh Samui stand two traditional Thai wooden houses, among the few that remain on an island increasingly lined with white concrete villas.

After the family moved to the city, the houses stood empty for years. Our client took a long lease with a vision to restore them as a peaceful retreat for longer stays: a chance to experience life in a traditional Thai home, with the comforts of contemporary Samui close at hand.

The design brief is to bring the two houses together as one property while allowing each to welcome guests independently. Whether travelling with family or staying alone, guests will find room to gather, to think, to create and to imagine what might come next.
